TheBeadcage.com's January Newsletter

A message from the President:

Now almost eight months into moving into our new store, things are finally starting to settle in. This is our first newsletter ever and the first for this New Year. I wanted to first thank you for subscribing and for supporting us over the past 3 years as loyal customers and friends. Please feel free to forward this to your friends and I thank you in advance for telling others to also sign up to receive this wonderful information.

Looking back we have certainly come a long way in a very short time. From our humble beginnings in the small 1000 sq ft store at Sidney Simons to the temporary store next to the Buzz, to our new architect designed 3500 sq ft mega store, it has been a whirlwind ride.

If you have not been to the new store located a few stores down from our temporary store near the Buzz, you won't believe it. If you have not been in for a few months, things are changing all the time. I am very excited about our new Beadcage Bead Bin Display System, which is nearly complete. This new system of Bead Bin Displays is unique to the industry and was designed and invented here at The Beadcage. It brings a new level to the industry. What it means to you is a better beads shopping experience. Beads are more visible and are easier to see, more logically displayed, and much easier to access. This system allows us to display the thousands of beads we carry in a way that makes your shopping and designing experience a pleasure.

Another pleasure I am very excited about is our new classroom. Those of you who have taken classes at other bead stores around the country will know that most classrooms are really not classrooms. They are a space in the corner or a corner in the stockroom somewhere. I designed a real classroom in The Beadcage. My classroom is about 800 sq feet of pure classroom comfort. With tons of halogen light, beautiful wood floors, floor to ceiling glass partitions, spacious tables, a huge dry erase board, and an adjoining kitchen it is like no other bead store classroom. We are putting the classroom to work with even more classes than before. We have a lineup of famous bead artists that I am bringing in from across the country over the year to teach specialty classes. Last month Melanie Potter from California taught three days of classes here at The Beadcage. It was a spectacular success and everyone who attending left with beautiful heirloom pieces worth hundreds of dollars.

Our next bead retreat weekend will feature Dallas Lovett, February 23-25th. I am bringing him in from Arizona and he is just wonderful. If you have not already signed up for one or all of his classes, I would highly recommend you do it now as the classes are filling up. I want this to be fun and enjoyable for everyone. I am keeping the costs low and including lunch and plenty of goodies. Whether you are experienced or not, everyone will leave the class with a beautiful complete piece of art. I hope to see you there.

Last month we had great success with our $2 and $5 strand specials. We sold out of almost all of the strands. This month we are doing Monday Madness specials. We will take selected $6-12 strands and sell them for $2. We will also have selected $12 - $24 strands, which we will sell for $5. Most of you know I travel the world to directly import many of our beads. I am finally getting many of the beads from India out of the boxes and into the Bead Bins. All of the beads we brought in from China and Hong Kong are out on the display floor. There are still hundreds of different strands of gorgeous fresh water pearls at very low "wholesale" prices available. I think we have the largest selection of strands and beads at the best prices you will find anywhere.

If you have not seen our new web site, please visit. Browse our many information pages, look at our selections of beads, and shop for almost all of the gifts found in our store in the privacy of your own home. Our web site attracts customers from around the world. As an aside, I'd like to pass on special thanks to the hundreds of Trollbeads and Pandora customers from Europe and the Netherlands. Please tell me what you think of the website and I look forward to any constructive criticism.

Lastly, this month I will be taking my yearly two weeks trip to the Tucson Bead Show. We will be stocking up on many of the beads we cannot directly import. We will be looking for great deals in semiprecious stones and glass beads. I will be looking for a new supplier or suppliers for my next new project of expanding our seed bead lines. I'll be firming up our selection of colors that will be "in" for this coming year. I'll be drumming up new instructors. I'll be looking for the latest and greatest. I'm planning on having an After Tucson Bead Show here at The Beadcage when I get back.

Please look for next months newsletter. Until then, happy beading.

Paula
